Enter the board dimensions — you will get its volume and how many such boards fit into a cubic metre or any other volume.
V₁ = thickness × width × length ÷ 10⁹
N = V ÷ V₁
Dimensions are in millimetres, V₁ is the volume of one board in m³, V is the given volume and N is the number of boards. “Whole boards” is how many fit completely, without a remainder.
| Section, mm | Board volume, m³ | Boards per 1 m³ |
|---|---|---|
| 25 × 100 | 0.015 | 66.7 |
| 25 × 150 | 0.0225 | 44.4 |
| 40 × 100 | 0.024 | 41.7 |
| 40 × 150 | 0.036 | 27.8 |
| 50 × 100 | 0.030 | 33.3 |
| 50 × 150 | 0.045 | 22.2 |
| 50 × 200 | 0.060 | 16.7 |
| 100 × 100 | 0.060 | 16.7 |
| 100 × 150 | 0.090 | 11.1 |
| 150 × 150 | 0.135 | 7.4 |
Board length is 6 metres (6000 mm). Calculated from nominal dimensions.
One board is 0.045 m³, so a cubic metre holds 22 whole boards (22.2 to be exact).
Multiply the board's thickness, width and length in millimetres and divide by 10⁹ — that gives the volume of one board in cubic metres. Then divide 1 by that number.
The calculator uses nominal dimensions. Real boards are often slightly smaller than nominal because of shrinkage and tolerances, so the actual count in a cubic metre can differ by a few percent. For a finished batch, use the volume calculator with actual dimensions.
